The work covers doorknob holes, cracks that keep reopening at the same corner, water stains and ceiling patches once the leak is fixed, texture matching, and the primer and paint at the end. He cuts back past the damage to solid board, then spends the real time matching knockdown, orange peel, or a smooth wall so the patch reads the same as the wall either side of it. Worth knowing before you plan around it: this is not a one visit job. A patch takes several coats with drying time between each one, then sanding, cleaning, and paint, which is a few days on a small repair and can run to several weeks on a large one.

Estimates are free. Rob comes out and sees the texture in person, because that decides whether the repair disappears, and the price is agreed in writing before the first cut. The person who quotes the job is the person who does it.

Opening a wall up or taking one out needs a permit in your name, and Rob does that work. If water is still coming in, a plumber or a roofer has to fix that first. He does not take plumbing, electrical, roof surfaces, gutter cleaning, or garage doors.

How do estimates work? +

Rob comes out, looks at the job, and gives you a price before any work starts. Estimates are free. If it turns out to be something he does not do, he will say so on the phone first rather than driving out and wasting your afternoon.

What does Rob charge? +

Small jobs are hourly with a minimum. Larger jobs get a written price before work begins, so you know the number up front.

Does Rob do plumbing or electrical work? +

No. He is a carpenter, not a plumber or an electrician. He will swap a light fixture or a switch for the same kind of thing, but he does not run new wiring, add circuits, or move pipes. If that is what the job needs, you need a different trade first.

What areas does Rob serve? +

Swannanoa first, since that is home, then Black Mountain, East Asheville, Oteen, Fairview, Montreat, Ridgecrest, and Asheville. Further out is possible depending on the job. Just ask.

Will the patch match the existing drywall or sheetrock? +

That is the job. A patch you can see is not a repair. Rob matches the texture on the wall or ceiling and leaves it finished, sanded, primed, and painted so the repair is not the first thing you notice.

Do you paint the drywall or sheetrock repair? +

Yes. Finished and painted, not left for you. The repair includes prime and paint so you are not dealing with a dusty square after he leaves.

Needs a permit first

The permit goes in your name as the property owner. Rob tells you what the job needs before it starts, then does the work and coordinates around the inspections.
