Rob Stimson Carpentry is the handyman call for Swannanoa, Asheville, Black Mountain, and the rest of Buncombe County. Rob has been a carpenter since 1985 and has worked here since 1991, and he takes small repairs one at a time or a whole list in a single visit.
The work covers shelving, brackets, and storage, mounting televisions, mirrors, and heavy items, furniture and fixture assembly, caulking, weatherstripping, hardware, locks, and handles, and general repairs around the house. Six small jobs in one visit costs less than six separate calls, because you pay for one trip out instead of six, and Rob works down the list in order. Debris removal varies by town: the Town of Black Mountain trash service picks up construction debris, and where a town does not, the landfill trip or a dumpster shows up as a line item on the estimate.
Estimates are free. Send the whole list and Rob will tell you what he can do and what it costs, in writing before he starts. On something small like hanging a door he will sometimes agree the work on the phone and invoice after instead of sending a formal estimate first. The person who quotes the job is the person who does it.
If one item turns out to need framing or a new opening, that takes a permit in your name and Rob does that work. Plumbing, electrical, roof surfaces, gutter cleaning, garage doors, and lawn and yard work are not his at any size.
Rob is a carpenter, not a plumber or an electrician. He does not take plumbing or electrical work, he does not get on roofs, and he does not do gutter cleaning or garage doors. If that is what you need, he would rather tell you now than take your appointment. Ask who he would call and he usually knows someone.

The permit goes in your name as the property owner. Rob tells you what the job needs before it starts, then does the work and coordinates around the inspections.

Nearly all of a list like this is repair and replacement with no permit involved. If one item turns out to be structural once he opens it up, he stops, tells you, and prices it separately before carrying on.
